Soul

This project is to convey a natural perspective on soul. The fading and weathering resulting from the natural element’s aids in the representation that the soul is a transient and ethereal concept. The installation within a woodland setting and its fading through seven days creates a strong connection to the audience as the images themselves are physically fading creating a unique quality of soul itself. Soul is an intimate and ethereal presence that is abstract and personal, the interpretation of which can be influenced by everything around us. The tactile direction of the project creates intimate and delicate sensitivities. Through experimenting with nature and degradable objects, I produced a composition of images that portray an interpretation of soul through spirituality using nature. Dynamically conveying mother-nature, life, and the beyond. Displayed in a woodland setting it is designed to leave no physical trace within the space after deinstallation, complementing the transient nature of soul. The intention is to leave an imprint without form, sparking the audience to contemplate their own perception of soul.

This is an excerpt of my book containing a documentation of my woodland exhibition focusing on the transient and ethereal aspects of soul. Leaving the prints exposed to all natures elements to signify the purity and unique essence an object can gain once we acknowledge that it will fade just as we do. The product of seven days though limited, began as a project exploring the perspective of soul. What is to come. What will change. Where will it lead. These are questions I both ask myself and you.

What is soul?

A simple question with no conceivable truth as an answer.
